Announcements

Arlington, VA – February 7, 2017 – Symplicity, a market leader in SaaS solutions for higher education, recruiters and government, announced today that former President and CEO of Blackboard, Inc. Michael Chasen will join its Board of Directors.

Chasen co-founded Blackboard, Inc. in 1997, then served as its chief executive officer from 2001 to 2012 and its president from 2004 to 2012. During his time at Blackboard, Chasen led the company through more than 20 mergers and acquisitions. After leaving Blackboard, Chasen co-founded the technology startup SocialRadar in 2013. He served as the company’s President and CEO until the company was acquired by Verizon in 2016 for $1.7 billion.

In early 2017, Chasen became the new chief executive officer for PrecisionHawk, a company that sells drones and DataMapper, a software product that analyzes drone data.

Forbes Magazine included Chasen in its list of “America’s 15 Most Powerful CEOs 40 and Under” in 2010, and he has received recognition from other organizations and publications including The Kilby International Awards Foundation, Ernst & Young and Washington SmartCEO magazine.

Chasen joins Symplicity’s Board of Directors at a point when Symplicity is heavily expanding its international reach. In January 2017 alone, Symplicity partnered with four separate international resellers: Cognos Online, Grupo A, BME Holding and Bico Savant. One of Symplicity’s main goals for 2017 is to amplify the international presence of its flagship product, Career Services Manager (CSM), by bringing it to more institutions of higher education abroad. Symplicity already has over 100 international clients, including some of the top 100 schools in the world like University of Oxford, University of Sydney, and University of Cambridge.

In addition to its international clients, Symplicity serves over 75% of the top U.S. colleges and universities. Its student employability network includes over 400,000 employers from 90% of Fortune 100 companies.

“Symplicity is rapidly launching into an exciting new direction of bringing its industry-leading solutions to the international markets. Michael Chasen could not have joined our Board of Directors at a better time – 2017 will be crucial for us in our quest to expand globally,” says Matt Small, Symplicity CEO and President.
